Train Your Impossible: Episode 2

Weighing in, working out and conquering the balance beam with Olympic gold medalist and Team Toyota athlete Laurie Hernandez

March 18, 2020
Editor’s Note: Let's talk about the Train Your Impossible Challenge. In light of recent, uncontrollable events, we had to revamp the prize structure. Unfortunately, the trip to Tokyo had to be removed. In its place are the following prizes:

  • One person will win the grand prize of a $5,000 Visa gift card
  • Two people will win a $500 Visa gift card
  • Three people will win a $300 Visa gift card
We have also extended the deadline to enter to June 1. Team members will vote on their favorite videos in June, and we'll announce the winner in July. All you have to do to enter is film a two-minute video of you starting your impossible (whatever it may be!). Then upload the video on the Train Your Impossible page on My Toolbox (search “TYI” on My Toolbox). For full details on the TYI Challenge, read the rules here.

Train Your Impossible: Episode 2

Train Your Impossible has required an incredible amount of vulnerability. After all, now the entire company knows how much I weigh. That wasn’t in my job description when I was hired.

And though that vulnerability may bring with it a certain sense of embarrassment – how did I let things get this bad? – it also provided some inspiration. And that, of course, was the point from the start.

Over the last month, so many of you have shared your impossible journeys with me, whether you’re getting in shape too, caring for a family member or overcoming a fear. Clearly, starting these paths isn’t easy. But we can walk together. We can help each other out and come out stronger and more fulfilled on the other side.

So, here’s my contribution: Episode 2 of Train Your Impossible featuring Team Toyota athlete and Rio 2016 Olympic Games gymnastics gold medalist Laurie Hernandez.
