Toyota’s Got Trucks (and SUVs)

Get off the road with these snazzy TRD Pro updates

July 08, 2020
Call it off-road social distancing. Or call it getting to know the great outdoors from the comfort of your 4Runner.

Here’s the scoop: Toyota just announced an update to its TRD Pro models, and there are a few interesting tidbits to discuss.

So let’s get to it.

Over the Moon!

That’s how we feel about TRD Pro’s new color: Lunar Rock.

You may remember Lunar Rock from the new RAV4’s debut. It’s been adopted as the hero color this round of TRD Pro, replacing Army Green. However, Army Green isn’t totally going away (ooh, do I sense a teaser for a section later in this article?)
The TRD Pro color palette now includes Lunar Rock, Super White and Midnight Black. Oh my!

4Runner Looking Sharp

LED headlamps are now standard on all 2021 4Runners. TRD Pro and Nightshade grades get LED high beams.

To boot, the 4Runner TRD Pro just got even more off-roadier with new black TRD alloy flow form wheels wrapped in Nitto® Terra Grappler tires.

And 4Runner TRD Pro includes re-tuned 2.5-inch Fox® Internal Bypass Shocks to help complement its already off-road-capable hardware. That improves trail driving isolation and high-speed performance but doesn’t compromise comfort and steering response.

Trail Editions!

Remember when we talked about Army Green? Well, it will be moved from TRD Pro models to Trail Special Editions for the 2021 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra.

Announced in February, Trail Editions now sport even more convenience features.

All three models — Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner— have extra storage and standard all-weather floor liners help catch the outdoor elements that come in on occupants’ feet. And more. From there, each Trail Edition model has its own unique set of upgrades.

Trail color choices include the aforementioned Army Green, Cement, Midnight Black Metallic, and Super White, and feature black exterior badging, black seating and a unique tan accent stitch.

Toyota Trails hit dealerships starting in Fall 2020.
